Viva La Chelsea Flower Show 2012!

May 22, 2012

My friend, Fayne Ansley, is sending her roving reporter photos back each day! Today it was the gold medal winner, Kazuyuki Ishihara for the Artisan’s Garden Award. It is fabuous!

“Long ago, Japanese daily life and nature were closely linked for the people living in the Satoyama, the space between the lowlands and the mountains. The people there drank the spring water and used it to wash their vegetables; fallen leaves were composted and used to fertilise the fields.

Reflecting this simple lifestyle, this garden expresses the importance of living in harmony with nature today. Nature gives the blessing of life to us all and in turn we must treat it gently and with respect. Kazuyuki Ishihara has designed this garden to highlight the symbiosis between nature and our lives.” brief by owner

Atlanta Orchestra Showhouse Opens with a Dargan Prelude

April 24, 2012

Wow! The Atlanta Orchestra Showhouse on Woodhaven is now open.

Italian Terrace’s enormous terra-cotta pots made it easy for Dargan Landscape Architects to look GREAT in the front entry. Logan Gardens in ADAC carries the line and they are made in Italy by gals who saved a village by finding a market for their splendid pots.

We love the showhouse which is a Phillip Trammel Shutze design from the 20’s and is many people’s favorite home. Norman Askins, architect, speaks at 10:30 am Thursday, April 26 about the esteemed architect’s works at an AOS brunch.

Showhouse is across form the Governor’s Mansion off West Paces Ferry.
